Scripps Health Student Placement Process

Step 1: Affiliation Agreement with Scripps Health

If your school does not have an affiliation agreement, please contact us to inquire. If your school has an affiliation agreement, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Submit a Student Placement Request in the San Diego Consortium

Student placement requests are reviewed on a semester by semester basis.

For more information regarding deadlines for placement request submissions, please visit the San Diego Consortium website:http://sdnsec.org/

How to Submit the Request:

All requests must be made using the San Diego Consortium. Contacting potential preceptors and managers for placements is NOT permitted for undergraduate placements. Requests that circumvent the Consortium will not be approved.

If your school is a member of the San Diego Consortium:

  1. Your school will submit a placement request for you in the San Diego Consortium.
  2. Once the placement request is entered the status of the request will be "Pending".
  3. Scripps Student Placements will review the request and contact the requested site and department for final determination.
  4. If the request is approved, Scripps Student Placements will update the request’s status to "Approved".
  5. An email notification from the Consortium is sent to the School with the updated approval status.

•If the request is not approved, a rejection email is sent to the School with the rejection notification.

If your school is not a member of the San Diego Consortium:

Your school will need to submit a Non-Member Request Form and submit it to the San Diego Consortium. There is an associated cost per request.

The form can be found on the San Diego Consortium website under "Forms to Download": http://sdnsec.org/

  1. Have your school follow the submission instructions at the bottom of the Non-Member Request Form to request your student placement.
  2. The request will be entered into the Consortium as soon as payment is received.
  3. The status of the request will be entered as "Pending".
  4. Scripps Student Placements will review the request and contact the requested site and department for final determination.
  5. If the request is approved, Scripps Student Placements will update the request's status to "Approved".
  6. An email notification from the Consortium is sent to the School with the updated approval status.

  • If the request is not approved, a rejection email is sent to the School with the rejection notification.

If your school is a member of Complio:

The school administrator will need to create a rotation and add the student(s) to the rotation. Once created, an email with instructions is automatically sent to the student(s) to complete and upload each requirement. Once the student completes the requirements, the school administrator shares the rotation profile with Student Placements via the “Share” function. If you need training on this process, please contact Complio at 1-800-200-0853.

If your school is not a member of Complio:

The student will need to create an account and subscribe to a screening package.

Account Creation:

To create an account, the student will need to access the following web address in a browser: http://scrippsbackground.com/ then click on New Users to create the account.

Account Subscription:

Once the account is created, the student will need to select the Clinical Bundle. The student will then choose the type of bundle: either Nursing, Respiratory, or Other. Lastly, the student will need to select the Scripps Tracking Package, and the Package 1: Background and Drug Screen.

The Student will also need to pay for the package, and then complete and upload the requirements as directed in the screens. If assistance is needed with this process, please contact Complio at 1-800-200-0853.

Please refer to this Student Guide regarding creating a Complio Profile and Sharing for more details:
